Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Place each chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound to an even thickness, about 1/2 inch. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
Prepare three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan cheese.
Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, shaking off any excess. Dip into the eggs, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing to adhere.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the chicken breasts for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden and crispy. Transfer to a baking dish.
Spoon marinara sauce over each piece of chicken. Top with shredded mozzarella.
Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the chicken is fully cooked.
Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Serve hot, either on its own or over cooked spaghetti or pasta.
